We recognize that families are busy and want to encourage advancement with the pack and at home.  Whether you’re trying to plan your den meeting, trying to make up an activity done at a meeting, or just looking for something to do during time out of school, we have gathered some resources here to help parents, guardians, and other Akela to lead their Cub Scouts in a new adventure.  Don’t forget to log your accomplishments and let your den leader know so they can record them in Scoutbook. 

In addition to the required adventures that your Den Leaders are guiding, rank advancement (including Bobcat) requires completion of the Youth Protection pamphlet exercises with the Scout and a parent, guardian, or other caring adult.

Lastly, after Bobcat, each rank requires one elective and the Duty to God adventure in your handbook.  We encourage families to do these together so everyone can explore their personal interests and family traditions.

​For all adventures, our Den Leaders have a link to the online handbook. The new online format will walk you step by step through a number of lessons for each adventure:

ADULT TRAINING

 
​1.  Youth Protection Training (YPT) is required for all registered adults as well as unregistered adults who join us for any overnight adventure.  Anyone can do this today, but if you do it before you register with the BSA, be sure to use the same email address when you create an account as you do when you fill out registration forms to avoid confusion later on.
2.  Position Specific Training (Den Leader, Committee Member, etc.) is also available online and recommended prior to your first meeting.  Once you’re a registered Adult you’ll receive information on these requirements.
3.  Adventure Specific Training such as BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation for hikes and camping), Safe Swim Defense (for swimming), Safety Afloat (for boating activities), etc. can only be done in our Pack with someone trained for these activities.  Let us know if you’re interested and we’ll help you sign up.
4.  Shooting Sports and Fishing are an activity only allowed at a District Event, but they’re always looking for more trained help.  So if you have a love of archery, bbs, or fly-fishing and want to share this enthusiasm with our youth, let us know and we’ll get you connected!
